May Meeting Minutes

Vandergrift Sportsmen’s Association, Inc
May 9, 2023

The monthly meeting was held on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at 7:00 PM, presided over by Vice President Frank Gray There were 14 members present. The meeting opened with the “Pledge of Allegiance.” The minutes from the April meeting were passed out to all members present. A motion to accept the minutes as read was made by Francis Gray, Sr, and seconded by Dan Barber. The motion was passed by voice vote. The treasure’s report was passed out to all members present. A motion to accept the treasurer’s report as read was made by Steve Milcic and seconded by Jim Wigle. The motion passed by voice vote.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

BUILDINGS  

Rich Catchpole stated he checked the roof supports on the rifle range building and they are good.

GROUNDS  

Larry Laurenti reported there is one camera not working in the pistol range. He also stated he turned off the heater for the gate opener.

RANGE

Jim Wigle, Larry Gamble, Jim Waltenbaugh, Richard Catchpole, and Butch Schreckengost –

Rich Catchpole stated that the homasote needs changed at the 25 yard pistol range and the 50 yard rifle range .

ARCHERY

TRAP

Steve Milcic  gave the report on the trap range. There was an opening balance of $xxxx. They shot 25 lines. Income was $xxxx. Expenses were $0.00. That leaves an ending balance of $xxxx.

Steve also stated that the building is almost completed. It only needs to have the inside trim installed and a five by five cement pad poured at the entrance of the club house.

FIVE – STAND REPORT

Steve Milcic  reported a balance of $xxxx. Expenses $ 31.78.  Income was $xxxx  Leaving an ending balance of $xxxx.   

YOUTH DAY

Frank Gray 

Frank stated that the tents and the food are ordered. He would like to get the online registration set up. Larry Laurenti said that he would send out donation requests after June 1, 2023.

NEW BUSINESS

Rich Catchpole stated that there was a police officer shooting on the range before ten o’clock .

Larry Laurenti stated that there will be a hunter education class on June 3, 2023. Interested parties can sign up on the website.

There was a clean up day of the club grounds, on April 22, 2023. We had seven club members show up to help.

Larry Laurenti is being recognized, by the state, for his ten years of instructing hunter safety education classes.

Larry Laurenti suggested that there be a to do list posted at the club. If any member had some time, they could do something from the list.

RAFFLE

The  raffle was won by Frank Gray .  He donated his $xxxx winnings donated to Youth Day.

Terry Huth won a pocket tool .                                                                                                               

PAY BILLS

A motion to pay the bills was made by Steve Milcic and seconded by Jim Wigle . The motion passed by voice vote.

ADJOURNIMENT

A motion for adjournment was made by Rich Catchpole  and seconded by Butch Schreckengost. The motion passed by voice vote.
